Check Your Lights:

At the end of August 2019, St. Andrews had 21 Post Lamps out, September had 24 and October had 31. This count needs to be reduced.  The following suggestion is being offered.

Switch bulbs to “ dusk to dawn “ bulbs.  Several have done so over the summer and it definitely improves lighted area. These bulbs are available from Amazon in packs of four (LOHAS sensor LED light bulb} for $ 17.99. If you only need one or  two, Fred Lofland, 232 N. Brockfield Dr. will have some at $ 4.50 each. These are not available from Home Depot or Ace Hardware.

The beauty of these bulbs is they are highly efficient, even by adding the exterior garage lights, there have been no reports of electric cost increase. Switch the lights on and forget them. Some of the home entry lights will not shut off do to lack of daytime sunshine.  Just go to Ace Hardware and get a motion detector bulb.

The Lamplighter Club (815-505-5927) will install your new bulb, clean the glass, if needed, but they will not do any electrical adjustments for you. These new bulbs also eliminate the need to maintain the light sensor in the lamp post.

Let’s light up our streets.

The newly formed SAEHOA Beautification Committee was hard at work recently.   They teamed up to go around the whole neighborhood, spraying the weeds that prolifically grow through the sidewalk cracks, using an eco-friendly formula of vinegar, salt, and soap.  The results are already evident with the sight of dead or dying weeds.   Their hard work will not kill those tenacious weeds for good though, so we applaud our team for volunteering and hope that their efforts will encourage our homeowners to follow up on their own and keep their sidewalks free of weeds!

On this page, you will find interesting and current information that may be of use to you. The data will usually have the date it was posted and will on occasion, be removed if or when it is no longer relevant.
